The use of modular construction throughout the United States continues to intrigue developers and designers. As more project teams consider modular systems, it is essential to understand how these buildings differ from traditional construction methods. Modular units are constructed in quality-controlled settings, an advantage that allows for greater efficiency, including faster jobsite construction time with less skilled labor on-site.

This webinar looks at the financial considerations for modular construction, including the impact of construction speed on cost. In this course we also explore design considerations unique to modular buildings – specifically, considerations related to detailing of the building enclosure to mitigate the effects of moisture.

By the end of the course, you will be able to do the following:

  • Explore potential cost savings associated with modular buildings related to speed of construction and other possible cost reductions.
  • Discuss how modular construction can benefit projects and lead to sustainable, comfortable, and durable buildings.
  • Highlight important design and detailing considerations for modular projects, especially as they relate to building enclosure.
  • Review essential considerations unique to the construction phase of this building system.
