The 2024 Wood Frame Construction Manual, designated as ANSI/AWC WFCM-2024 was approved as an American National Standard (ANS) in November 2023. This presentation will discuss how the WFCM is referenced in the International Building Code and International Residential Code and highlight changes introduced in the 2024 edition. The course will discuss updated basis for loads and resistances, and related changes including those to member spans, fastening, and shear wall length.
By the end of the course, you should be able to do the following:
- Examine the scope of the 2024 Wood Frame Construction Manual (WFCM).
- Explore the references of the 2024 WFCM in the International Building Code and International Residential Code.
- Identify changes in the 2024 WFCM for design of wood construction.
- Identify resources for additional information on intent and application of WFCM provisions.
